Here's what Jeff believes the tech sector will bring us in 2021 Each year, I like to have a look at the big image and predict what's simply around the corner. Long time readers of my work understand that I follow the most exciting tech patterns on the brink of mass adoption.
These trends are experiencing exponential development and producing incredible opportunities for investors. I want to make sure all our readers are gotten ready for what's next. And with that in mind, let me draw the photo of what I see being available in the next 12 months 1. 5G Devices Our new 5G (fifth-generation) wireless networks are a topic I've been covering for years now.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains last year, a remarkable 250 million 5G-enabled gadgets were still offered. Specifically in the 2nd quarter, there were supply chain disturbances, producing hold-ups, and work stoppages. And all of this ultimately led to Apple delaying the release of the 5G-enabled i, Phone 12 by 2 months.
When you think about all of that, selling 250 million systems is remarkable. More significantly, the hold-ups triggered by the pandemic produced a lots of pent-up demand. Which demand is now going to be pushed into 2021. In truth, I forecast that more than 500 million 5G devices will be shipped in 2021.
Phase Three of 5G When I've spoken about 5G in the past, I've explained its three various stages. In Stage One, the infrastructure of these new networks is constructed out, consisting of all the brand-new towers and fiber-optic circuitry that 5G will require. In Phase 2, 5G gadgets go on sale.
And in Stage 3, 5G services start to be offered. That's when we start to see applications running on 5G networks. And my second 5G prediction for 2021 is that we will start Phase 3 by this summertime.

The financial investment chances going forward will be massive. 3. CRISPR Genetic Modifying Stepping away from 5G, the next important technology I anticipate in 2021 is CRISPR genetic editing. CRISPR means "clustered frequently interspaced brief palindromic repeat." It's a mouthful. However it is among the most exciting advancements in biotechnology.
